Colorado Brewers Collect 21 Awards at World Beer Cup®

19 Colorado breweries earned medals at the global beer competition this year!

DENVER (April 24, 2024) — The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) is pleased to congratulate the 19 Colorado breweries that collected a total of 21 awards at the World Beer Cup award ceremony on April 24, 2024 at The Venetian in Las Vegas, NV where awards were given in 110 beer-style categories.

The Brewers Association started the global competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing. World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries. Widely recognized as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup saw an impressive field of 9,300 beers from 2,060 breweries in 50 countries.

“Colorado continues to prove that it’s competitive on the world beer stage. With nine gold medals this year ranging from lagers to Belgian styles, Colorado craft breweries are demonstrating that they can brew alongside the best brewers in the world,” says Adelson.

Notably this year, seven breweries won their first World Beer Cup awards including Old 121 Brewhouse who had won several homebrew awards for their ESB prior to opening the brewery. Verboten Brewing and Barrel Project and Station 26 Brewing have the longest streaks with three World Beer Cup wins in a row. River North Brewery also won two awards for the second year in a row. Prost Brewing snagged a gold award for Leichtbier in the International Light Lager, which was an impressive win as there were 192 entries making it the 6th most entered category.
