This Saturday at our online 25th anniversary bash, Julia Herz, Craft Beer Program Director for the Brewers Association and Publisher of CraftBeer.com, will lead a unique session called “Beer Pairing at Home Like You Mean It, Own It, and Live It“.
The pairing takes place at 2:40 p.m. MT on Zoom. Register now with code HAPPYBEERTHDAYCBG to get in to the whole party for just $5.
Learn more about combining different beer styles with foods you likely already have in your fridge and pantry, and prepare beforehand with Julia’s helpful info below.
Flavor Concepts and Combinations
Everyone can certainly participate in this session without beer. Either way I PROMISE to change the way you approach beer/beverage and food evaluation here forward.
We will cover the concepts of flavor (taste, aroma and mouthfeel) and parse out which specific interactions work for you (beer to food/food to beer).
Before the Party
Check out these excellent resources before Saturday:
- CraftBeer.com: Educational Tools
- Brewers Association: Beer and Food Pairing Worksheet.
Get your beers ready
We’ll be enjoying these styles during the session, so if you don’t have them in your fridge or cellar, order them to-go or for delivery from your local brewery or liquor/grocery store:
- American Sour (ABV lower than 6%) – Fruited or straight up
- Kolsch or Pilsner
- American Brown Ale
- Belgian-Style Triple or Saison
- American IPA
- Imperial Stout
Have each beer cold and ready to pour into a tasting glass for our session.
Also having water and crackers to cleanse you palate is good to consider.
Note: If not partaking in alcohol, feel free to have your favorite N/A beverage on the ready.
Don’t forget to register for the party
