Describe your company culture in 5 words or less:
For Those Who Wander.
What's your favorite beer on tap right now and why?
Rise & Climb Kölsch & Mirage Mosaic Sour. Rise & Climb is what I go for when I want something light and crushable but Mirage just won a 3rd GABF medal so lately I’ve been downing that slightly tart, pineapple-forward goodness any chance I get!
Tell us your story of how you got started.
As for myself, I was fed up with cubicle life back in 2014, quit my job and traveled to craft breweries across America for an entire year alongside Brandon Wurtz, who is now one of the brewers here at NTBC. We ended up making it to 789 breweries in 365 days across all 48 of the continental US states and the only option upon returning was to get into the craft brewing industry; I’ve been at New Terrain Brewing since we opened eight years ago.
The owners of New Terrain Brewing, Josh & Kaylee Robbins, began their craft brewing journey as part owners of Mountain Toad Brewing here in Golden. After taking a deep dive into seeing how other breweries look and operate, they decided to break off and build what is now our beautiful brewery! In the early stages there was definitely more of a distribution focus, but we have certainly pivoted into being an on-site destination brewery with loads of unique events and new beer releases, year-round.
What does craft beer mean to you?
Craft beer has a punk culture with the execution of a classical symphony. We are all friends yet competitive enough to keep pushing the industry forward. Fans of craft beer always want to try something new, which drives breweries to think outside the box and continuously innovate. Craft beer is so much more than just beer.
What is your favorite Colorado Brewers Guild event and why?
Collab Fest represents Colorado, craft beer and community. It really brings all of these full circle into one event so well. I can’t help but love and look forward to it every year!
We noticed your lack of oxford comma use in that answer. Want to elaborate?
You’ll just have to follow our instagram to find out I guess!
Describe your taproom atmosphere...
We have a large indoor space open to the fresh air whenever possible as well as an even larger outdoor beer garden with a stage for weekly live music! Plus we’re right at the base of North Table Mountain so it’s a pretty awesome area!
