Brewers Reveal Their Halloween Beers

Candy may be synonymous with Halloween but one might argue that beer could make a play as well. From a beer that pays homage to The Shining (the book) to a sour ale brewed with candy corn, we’ve rounded up a few beers for you to enjoy this Halloween season!

Bruz Beers – Hellraiser

Releasing the week before Halloween, Hellraiser is a powerhouse of a beer. This Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale, at 10% ABV, is amped up in strength and vibrant aromatics. The tradition of naming golden strong beers after the devil dates back to the end of WWI when the first beer was named for this symbol in Belgium. Its aroma and flavors deliver bready malts, spicy hops, a touch of bitter orange peel and coriander. Hellraiser is a beer that truly lives up to its name.

FlyteCo Brewing – P-38 Pumpkin Porter

Releasing just in time for Halloween on October 20, FlyteCo Brewing is releasing its P-38 Pumpkin Porter (photo here, credit goes to FlyteCo Brewing). FlyteCo adds pureed pumpkin and pumpkin spice to the (monster) mash, resulting in the familiar chocolate, roast and sweetness of a porter combined with an unmistakable pumpkin and spice character.

LUKI Brewery – 217 Blood Orange Double IPA

Fans of The Shining will appreciate this beer which gives a nod to the book version with room 217 (the movie has room 237). Clocking in at 8.9% ABV, 217 invokes a huge amount of grain and hops that star in this thriller! LUKI has El Dorado hops carry the story through twin dry-hop sessions and then ages the beer on blood orange puree to provide maximum citrus taste. The combination of flavors provide all play and no work. This beer taps on October 31 at LUKI Brewery.

Sky Bear Brewery & Pub – Harvest Moon

This pumpkin ale from the Loveland brewery and pub is made with fresh pumpkin with the perfect amount of species that complement without overpowering the beers. ABV: 6.4%.

Spice Trade Brewery + Kitchen – #PSL Pumpkin Spice Latte

There’s nothing basic about this beer which is brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar, spices, lactose, vanilla, and freshly roasted Novo coffee beans.

WeldWerks Brewing Co. – Candy Corn Cheesecake Sour Ale
WeldWerks adds a fun twist to their line of Cheesecake sours with a polarizing Halloween candy: candy corn. Brewed with candy corn, cream cheese, graham cracker, vanilla, and milk sugar, this beer comes in at 4.3% so you’ll likely come back for more. This beer is available within WeldWerks’ distribution footprint.

WeldWerks Brewing Co – The Nerdy Professor

Level up your Halloween party with The Nerdy Professor, a 5.2% sour ale brewed with strawberry and grape crunchy candies, as well as grape and strawberry puree. This candy-colored beer will be available Friday the 13th at the WeldWerks taproom with distribution beginning Monday, Oct. 16th.
