Each year, on the Winter Solstice (in the Southern Hemisphere) Cusco celebrates the Inca Festival of the Sun – Inti Raymi. Created by Inca Pachacutec, Inti Raymi was a tribute the the venerated Sun God Inti. Today, the festival draws thousands of local and international visitors to the ancient Inca capital of Cusco to celebrate one of the most important events of the calendar year.
At Dos Luces Brewery, we will have our own celebration to commemorate Inti Raymi on June 22nd at the brewery.
The day will begin with the release of a special barrel-aged Imperial (Sapa) Chicha, Túpac Amaru III with Sour Cherries. This 12% ABV Chicha was aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels with Palo Santo wood staves to create a unique and complex flavor combination that has notes of vanilla, licorice, maltiness, and of course cherry. It will be available both on draft and (in limited quantities) bottles to go.
The day continues with a cultural dance performance from Qashwa at 5pm, followed by original Chicha music performed by Aldo Pantoja from Don Chicharrón as DJ Aldohualpa at 6:30.
Pending confirmation, food options will be available throughout the day (watch this space for details).
The Peruvian General Consulate in Denver will be sponsoring the event, including a special Pisco Sour tasting (time TBD).
