Phantom Canyon Brewing Company opened in 1993 and is the oldest brewing company in Colorado Springs. Our founders are the same entrepreneurs that started Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver.
Our location, the Cheyenne building, was built in 1901 and was originally an office building serving the western terminus of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, with the second and third stories of this building containing sleeping rooms to house railroad company agents. From 1909 to 1963 it was used as a hotel focusing on the business traveler and tourists who preferred accommodations less lavish than the Antlers or Acacia Park hotels.
Sporadically used throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, the building was slated for demolition in 1990 to provide yet another parking lot. The building’s demise was stalled by the City’s first use of its Historic Preservation Overlay Zone. Wynkoop Brewing Company purchased the building in 1991, restored it and opened the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company in 1993.
Over the 25 years of our operation we have had a number of brewers. Charles McManus is our Head Brewer and has been brewing beer commercially since 2014. He and his team produce and maintain the high quality of our beers. In addition to the flagship beers, our brewers have the freedom to produce seasonal and one-off creations. This ability to produce many specialty beers keeps our customers interested in what new creation they will find on their next visit. We usually have 18 of our own beers on tap, including a dedicated Cask line.
Our space is unparalleled in Colorado Springs complete with a full restaurant, a Billiards Hall, outdoor seating and multiple event spaces, each with amazing mountain views. Our staff is highly skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated to the advancement of our craft. Join us in celebrating over 25 years of Colorado Craft beer!
